How to buy honey well
1 min read
Good buying is mostly good asking. Where does this honey come from — a named region or a blend? Is it raw and unfiltered? What does the grade describe? A seller who knows their batches will answer each of these easily; a seller who answers in slogans is selling the label.
In the jar, look for a colour and texture that match the description, and remember that setting or crystallising over time supports — not undermines — a raw claim. Heavy, syrup-thin uniformity and an identical look across many unrelated origins are the signs to be cautious about.
Key points
- Ask for a named origin, not just “sidr”.
- Raw honey may crystallise — that is a good sign.
- Be cautious with identical looks and slogan answers.
